Church can be an intimidating place to visit — especially if you don’t know what to expect. We invite you to experience what the gospel means both intellectually and relationally at our Sunday worship service. We hope that through visiting with us, you will experience the hope, love and joy that comes from a community of people who love Jesus.
Our Weekend Service
Authentic Worship
We look for God’s love in our lives as the evidence that we have been truly worshipping Him. At Covington Baptist Church, worship is central to everything. Worship means learning to recognize God’s goodness and delighting in God's undeserved grace.
It means purposing together, as individuals and as a community, to unite our actions, intentions, and emotions in loving response to God for all that He has done on our behalf. It means transforming the ways we think so that both our hearts and lives are rooted in the richness of the gospel.
Family Atmosphere
At Covington Baptist Church, we value family. We see family not just as those that are in our church body and related to one another but as those that are in Christ and therefore part of the family of God. Every Sunday, therefore, we worship together as one family, through Jesus, testifying to the truth of I John 3:1, "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are."
Teaching From Scripture
We believe that practical, relevant teaching is the catalyst for transformation in an individual's life. Scripture is inspired by God, completely accurate and our authority regarding Christian beliefs and the guide for Christian living.
We value Scripture—the Bible—as the basis for understanding who God is and how to orient our lives fully around Him. You can expect that each Sunday morning will include a set-aside time for hearing from Scripture, as well as practical teaching surrounding God's Word.
First Time At Covington?
We would love to have you come visit us for one of our services. Here's what you can expect when you arrive:
When Are Your Services?
Our morning worship service begins at 9:45 a.m. and lasts approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. At the end of our service, we would love to have you stay for our fellowship time in our coffee room for coffee and snacks. Our hosts will let you know how to get there. At 11:15, we provide Bible study classes for children and adults of all ages.
What Are Your Services Like?
We believe you will find our services to be worshipful as well as warm, friendly, and down-to-earth. The goal of all of our services is to point one another to Jesus Christ. It is for this reason that we are able to gather together with grateful hearts worshiping God through music, prayer, and the preaching of God's Word.
Am I Going to Stand Out As a Visitor?
You will not stand out when you visit our church. There will be hosts at our entrances to welcome you and give you information about our church, but you will not be singled out in any way. We desire our services to be a time when you can worship the Lord and get to know about our church in a better way.
What Should I Wear?
Do I dress casual? Like I'm going to work? Like I'm relaxing with friends? Like I am going out for dinner? Well, the easy answer is, "Yes!" When you arrive at our church, you will find some business casual, some "Sunday Best", and some dress casual. We aren't concerned with what you are wearing when you join us... we're just glad to have you there!
Is There Anything for My Children?
Yes. We offer several ministries for your children including: Nursery (for all services), Kids' Church during the morning worship service (Children ages 3-3rd grade will be dismissed by an announcement on the screen), Kids' Sunday School, AWANA Clubs (Wednesday nights @ 5:50), Youth Group (Wednesday nights @ 6:00).
